I CAN RUN! (and nothing was chasing me...LOL)

OK...I'll get back to the running part in a bit.

I have had a few rollercoaster weeks!!!

First of all, my grandmother took a fall in her bathroom.  Luckily she is fine.  But I had the chance to talk with her in great detail about this horrific event last weekend and she actually said to me that she thought that was it.  She thought she was going to die right there.  Thanks to the life alert she wears around her neck AND the fire alarm that someone stupidly pulled, SHE IS STILL HERE.

Secondly, while I was at home last weekend visiting my Granny, I learned that my dad (stepfather...but he practically raised me since age 9 so I shall refer to him as dad) wasn't feeling well.  We were a the house, he came in and didn't even recognize that Maya and I were in the living room. My mom had to alert him of this TWICE.  Well on Monday evening (Labor Day) I got the call that he had bleeding on his brain and would most likely need emergency brain surgery.  I called my boss and told her of what was going on and she gave me the following day off so that I could be there for the surgery.  Well let me tell you....I thought I was looking death in it's eyes!  He was nonresponsive, just incoherent....out of it!  Thank you God, his surgery went well and HE IS STILL HERE.

Thirdly, I got home from visiting dad and got a message that my aunt (my bio dad's sister)
had a heart attack.  Upon speaking with my uncle, I learned that she is gravely ill.  She has had some medical issues but this particular evening she wasn't feeling well and asked to be admitted for testing.  While she was being checked in with the nurse, she had her attack.  She was in cardiac arrest for 20 minutes...TWENTY!!!!   So right now, she is and has been basically sedated to keep her heart from working too hard.  The extent of the damage is unknown at this time but SHE IS STILL HERE.

Fourthly, my boss' daughter, who is healthy, young and vibrant, felt like something wasn't right on Wednesday afternoon.  Well my boss, I will refer to as Dr. B, took her pulse ox to her daughter and realized that her daughter was in atrial fibrillation.  Her heart was beating at 190 beats per minute.  Well off to the hospital they went where her heart stopped beating once.  She received the appropriate treatment and thankfully SHE IS STILL HERE.

AND LASTLY, my husband called an uncle to help his son with a computer issue he was having.  Well he was on the phone briefly when my uncle said that my cousin had taken herself to the hospital because she wasn't feeling good.  SHE IS STILL HERE.

SOOOO having said all of that.  I have to get right!  Ever since seeing dad in the hospital on Tuesday, I have been tracking my foods and doing much better.  I downloaded some recipe books and went food shopping yesterday and am making the commitment.  I started by watching the entire season of Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition  between Wednesday and Friday.  Boy, if that show doesn't motivate....WOW!

FAST FORWARD TO TODAY!!!!

This morning I got up and tried the first of two recipes that I found in a book.  This recipe was Chicken Apple Sausage and Asparagus scramble.  OMG!  This was DELISH!!!   25g of protein and 5 points for the dish.  It was soooo good!  My husband tasted it (I made him and my daughter something different) and I think he'd rather have that.
Here it is!!

Total for this breakfast was  8 points.  And took about 10 minutes to make!!!
Sautéed 2 oz of Chicken apple sausage with 8 skinny asparagus spears (chopped).  While that was cooking I microwaved 3/4 cup of egg whites.  Then topped the egg whites with the sausage mixture....YUMMY to my tummy!
Then for lunch I decided to try yet another recipe that I found.  Stuffed portabella mushrooms!

Basically, I sautéed the peppers in a nonstick pan.  I added 2/3 cups of sausage and diced tomatoes.  Meanwhile, I steamed the mushrooms for 5 minutes to start the cooking process.  I then placed the sausage mixture into the mushrooms and topped each with 1/4 cup of cheese.  Baked it in the oven at 375 until the cheese was melted.
This was the delicious result!   Tasted like pizza!  Added a small baked potato for a total of  9 points! And took maybe 20 minutes total!!!!

OK...now about the running....
I went to the gym this afternoon and decided to try the Couch to 5K app.  At first, I chickened out and didn't run when prompted.  But after about 10 minutes in, I was like, WHAT THE HECK....I'LL TRY ANYTHING ONCE!  I already had the girls double secured with two exercise bras so there was no chance of them knocking me out.  LOL
I did it and it was fun!   I'm gonna try it again tomorrow!  I also worked my upper body.  I'm sore.  But no pain, no gain, right???
I have no clue what I weigh right now since I haven't stepped on the scale in 3 weeks or so.  But I am committed to stick to this once and for all.
I'M BACK!!!!
